Mercury-free Fillings
Your health demands the best materials. Our team abandoned amalgam-mercury silver-colored fillings 27 years ago. Rest assured, we’ll only provide you with mercury-free restorations. Any filling placed in your tooth will match your natural tooth color.
Cavity Prevention
Preventing cavities is one of the hallmarks of our office. We’re not here to simply fix cavities, but to stop them before they start, and help you become cavity-free for the rest of your life. We begin with a simple swab test on every patient; this checks for high levels of cavity causing bacteria levels in your mouth. If you’re classified as “at risk”, or cavity-prone, we can prescribe a regimen of home-care products that will make cavities a thing of the past for you or your child. When you prevent cavities you can also avoid the need for restorations like crowns, root canals; even tooth loss. We think the right products are an investment in the future – one free of the need for extensive and expensive dental work.
The Diagnodent
The Diagnodent is, in our opinion, one of the most useful inventions of the decade. It’s essentially a cavity detector that determines tooth density with a focused laser beam. Healthy enamel is extremely hard and strong. The Diagnodent locates and identifies tooth surfaces that are less dense than they should be; the softer tooth structure is decaying. The Diagnodent has changed the way we practice dentistry, in that we can now determine if your tooth has a hidden cavity…and we can act appropriately. What freedom! The Diagnodent allows us to diagnose and treat your cavities at an earlier stage, before they become root canals or crowns. We can also use it to be certain no decay is present when we place sealants on your child’s teeth. When it comes to prevention, we think that’s one smart tool.
Digital X-rays
Digital Radiographs are basically a filmless capture of X-ray images, and are the new standard in dental care. Did you know? With digital X-ray technology, we can expand and view your radiographs in greater detail, improving our treatment planning. The best thing about this new tool is it minimizes your risk of exposure to radiation by up to 90%.
Lasers
Our laser technology allows you to have a new level of comfort in dentistry that may require no drilling - and no anesthetic for small cavities! A dental laser precisely removes decayed tooth structure, leaving a strong, healthy tooth behind. We use it not only for fillings but also for certain surgeries and root canal therapy. The laser itself uses energized water molecules (not heat) to do its work. If you don’t like the sound of the drill or injections, laser dentistry would be an excellent choice for you or your family.
LANAP
Our Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure. This technology is truly exciting. Using a special laser, we are now able to treat gum disease, and potentially regenerate lost bone and gum attachment to your teeth. Gum disease is an inflammatory disease that affects many people. The impact of gum disease causing bacteria can be devastating for some people. This laser has been shown to reduce or eliminate spaces between the tooth and gum caused by inflammation and to regenerate healthy tissue in even the most compromised cases. Your teeth must have supporting bone and attachment to survive and remain in place. This laser allows us to make both happen. Ask us about it today!
The VELscope®
The first approved device that detects and exposes cancerous and pre-cancerous cells in the mouth – making them visible to the naked eye. The VELscope©, which cost over 50 million dollars to develop, emits a blue fluorescent light that showcases aberrant cells, allowing for early detection of oral cancer in high and low risk patients alike. Not sure if you’re at risk for oral cancer? The typical risk factors are tobacco use, alcohol consumption and presence of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). For more information about oral cancer, please visit http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/facts/index.htm
We’re committed to ensuring that you, as our patient, have frequent and exacting checks for any condition that might compromise your health. Oral cancer is certainly one of those.
CEREC
CEREC is a machine that mills crowns onsite. It’s used mostly for offices that wish to reduce the length of time that patients wait for their permanent crowns to arrive back from fabrication at a dental laboratory. With the CEREC, you can get a permanent crown prepared and seated in just one appointment start to finish. Why wait for two or three weeks, when you could get your crown today and move on with your life? That’s the best argument we’ve heard.
